BRISTOL SOCIAL ACTION HUB

Building a  local Community Organisers Network from the bottom up

COMMUNITY ORGANISING INTRO

Intro training dates spring/summer 2018:

May 22nd @Easton Community Centre
9:30-5pm

September 12 & 13
(9:30-2:30 x2 days) @St Paul's Adventure Playground

Community Organising is the work of bringing people together to take action around their common concerns and overcome social injustice.   Community organisers reach out and listen, connect and motivate people to build their collective power.
Our one day training course introduces you to the core foundations of community organising – genuine, effective listening which sparks dialogue and explores motivations, an analysis of power in community and how to build it, and an exploration of how to organise and motivate people to take effective action together to address common concerns.
Watch this videos to get an idea of what our sessions are like and what participants have to say about their experience

The course aims to achieve these learning outcomes:

· To understand the importance of listening to build relationships
· To begin to explore power and power dynamics in communities
· To appreciate how to motivate people to take action
· To plan your next steps and actions in community organising

Whilst we are a funded project, the real running cost of this training session is £70 per participant. In order to sustain our work into the future and to make this training accesible we are using a pay as you feel policy which means we trust you to decide how much you can contribute.

We don't want anyone to miss this opportunity, so don't be shy if you really can't contribute.

Any funds raised through participant payments will be reinvested into providing free or affordable training through The Bristol Social Action Hub.

Run by The Barton Hill Settlement Social Action Hub, delivered by Community CoLab and supported by Community Organisers Ltd, Up Our Street, Vocalise CIC, St. Werburghs City Farm, Wellsprings Centre and The Somali Resource Centre
